Information about Crawling (locomotion)
For the Linkin Park song, see .

The Borneo Short-tailed Python (Python breitensteini) moves by crawling.
Human crawling
For humans it usually means moving on knees and hands, with support from the toes. Except for using a vehicle or being carried by an animal, it is the main alternative to walking and running. Crawling is used mainly:- When he/she cannot walk because of being an infant or due to disability or being wounded or sick.
- In very low places (caves, under a table, in a mine, etc.). Sometimes underground miners need to crawl long distances during their work.
- When searching for something on the ground.
- To get down to the ground in gardening
- For stealth (camouflage and quietness)
- To lower the field of vision
- For fun or comical purposes.
- When gun fire or other projectiles are flying over, crawling reduces the risk of being hit.
Crawling sensation
Crawling, in terms of pain sensations, refers to feeling as if covered with crawling things (i.e., ants).See also

animal locomotion is the study of how animals move. Not all animals move, but locomotive ability is widespread throughout the animal kingdom. As all animals are heterotrophs, they must obtain food from their environment.

Terrestrial locomotion has evolved many times as animals moved onto the land from the water. Locomotion on land raises different problems than that on water, with reduced friction being replaced by the effects of gravity.

Friction is the force of two surfaces in contact. It is not a fundamental force, as it is derived from electromagnetic forces between atoms. When contacting surfaces move relative to each other, the friction between the two objects converts kinetic energy into thermal energy, or

Running is defined as the fastest means for an animal to move on foot. It is defined in sporting terms as a gait in which at some point all feet are off the ground at the same time. It can be a form of both aerobic and anaerobic exercise.

Jumping is an ability that most humans and many animals share to some degree. It is the process of getting one's body off the ground for a short time using only one's own power, usually by propelling oneself upward via contraction and then forceful extension of the legs.

Vehicles are non-living means of transport. They are most often man-made (e.g. bicycles, cars, motorcycles, trains, ships, and aircraft), although some other means of transport which are not made by man can also be called vehicles; examples include icebergs and floating tree trunks.
