Information about Action Hero

An action hero is any heroic character in popular culture that lacks the superhuman powers that would normally be connoted in the term "superhero", but has significant human power and strength that far exceeds the capabilities of the average person.

Instead of fighting crime using latent or expressed superpowers, they are mortal people who use special devices (not limited to gadgetry and detective work), fighting techniques/martial arts, or simple brute force to succeed in their objectives. They often display exaggerated physical characteristics such as extreme physical stature and/or fitness, with the male action hero stereotypically displaying a physique or height that would match or exceed that of the most developed bodybuilder. The term "action hero" has evolved to describe those actors whose personas are closely associated with this type of character and genre, such as Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone or Bruce Willis.

Action hero movies are distinct from "super action" films in that the former tend to be popular with the public audience while the latter tend to be considered a pale imitation with particularly bad writing and characterization and generally are thought of as "B-movies".
