Information about Watson And Crick

Watson and Crick refers to the duo of James D. Watson and Francis Crick who, using x-ray data collected by Rosalind Franklin, deciphered the structure of the DNA molecule in 1953. Watson and Crick, along with Maurice Wilkins, received the 1962 Nobel Prize for their body of research on nucleic acids. Franklin had died from cancer by that time and could not be considered. Watson went on to head the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory raising major funds for basic science research. Their work became the basis for the Human Genome Project, which Watson headed from 1988.
