WTUE is a classic rock station in Dayton, Ohio. WTUE is also currently an affiliate of The Bob and Tom Show. Its transmitter is located in Moraine, Ohio.
WTUE's beginnings was that of WONE-FM simulcasting WONE-AM which had a Top 40 format until 1967. WONE-FM continued to play Top 40 hits without live personalities when WONE-AM switched to country in 1969 as "country-wide W-1" to remain synonymous with its then-owner Group One Broadcasting based in Akron. In 1972 monaural WONE-FM transformed to FM-stereo(and briefly as "quadraphonic")WTUE "the all new W-2" using a contemporary jingle package called "Solid Rock" produced by PAMS Productions and still playing Top 40 hits with live DJs until 1976 when it switched to album oriented rock using the branding "T-105" competing with University of Dayton-owned WVUD-FM. WTUE dropped the T-105 nickname in 1979 and in the 1980s it ultimately won out in the ratings battle.
WVUD was eventually sold by UD becoming WLQT(Lite 99.9)after a brief stint as a contemporary hit station before competitor WGTZ-FM(Z-93)emerged in 1985. WLQT subsequently became part of the Jacor Dayton cluster(later merging with Clear Channel.)
WLQT-FM along with WTUE-FM and WONE-AM now make up a major portion of the Clear Channel Dayton cluster.
HD Radio
As of March 2007, WTUE broadcasts in HD-Radio by simulcasting its analog audio on its HD1 stream and broadcasting a more album-oriented rock format on its HD2 stream. The station broadcasts using the MP1 service modeLinks
