"Will You Marry Me?"
(1992)

"Vibeology" was the fourth single from Paula Abdul's album, Spellbound in 1992.

Song information

The song is a jazzy/funk track.

The single only made it to #16 on the Billboard Hot 100. This was Abdul's first single to not make the top ten since the original release of (It's Just) The Way That You Love Me in 1988. Many considered this the beginning of the decline of Abdul's music career.

The song was also performed at the 1991 MTV Video Music Awards. At the time Abdul was the subject of a lawsuit alleging another woman's vocals were used on her albums; because of this Abdul sang the track live. The song heavily uses vocal samples and layered vocals, making it difficult to replicate live, and Abdul's vocals were considered underwhelming. In addition Abdul's weight gain was mocked, in part due to a glittering corset that was adorned by a bulky battery pack in the rear end. Abdul joked about the performance on The Arsenio Hall Show.
