Information about Toyotomi
The Toyotomi clan thrived throughout the Sengoku period of the 16th century of Japan, originating in the province of Owari. Throughout the course of the Sengoku period, the Toyotomi served as retainers under the Oda clan. The greatest figure and influence throughout the clan of Toyotomi would be none other than Toyotomi Hideyoshi, one of three Unifiers of Japan. Toyotomi Hideyoshi had joined the famous Oda Nobunaga (the current ruler of the Oda and one of three Unifiers of Japan) at a young age, and not being thought as much by being a mere peasant at the time. However, Hideyoshi soon grew very powerful in due time and ended up seizing a very large portion of power from the Oda following the death of his lord in 1582. Toyotomi had a very strong ambition to rule as Shogun over all of Japan, but could not be granted so due to not being of noble birth. The Toyotomi clan followed in their extinction during Tokugawa Ieyasu's Siege of Osaka during the year of 1614.
