Information about The Last Battle (film)
Le Dernier Combat (English title: The Last Battle) is a 1983 French film that was the first feature film made by Luc Besson. The film is a dark vision of post-apocalyptic survival.
It is filmed in black and white and has received cult status for having virtually no dialogue, with barely two minutes of music.
The plot explores the devastation of civilisation and issues of brutality, hostility and isolation. Pierre Jolivet stars as the main character (identified only as "The Man" in the end credits) who is menaced by "The Brute" (played by Jean Reno) on his journey through a world filled by people rendered mute by some unknown incident.
