Information about Tachibana Ginchiyo
Tachibana Ginchiyo, as she appears in Samurai Warriors 2.
Tachibana Ginchiyo (立花誾千代) (1569-1602) was the head of the Japanese clan of Tachibana during the Sengoku Period of the 16th century. Ginchiyo was the daughter of Tachibana Dosetsu, retainer of the Ōtomo (which were rivals of the Shimazu at the time). Due to the fact that Dosetsu had no sons, Ginchiyo ironically took the position as the new head of the Tachibana following his death. After about five years, Ginchiyo was married to Tachibana Muneshige who followed in becoming the head daimyo of the clan not too long after their marriage.
Ginchiyo in popular culture
Ginchiyo appears in Koei's Samurai Warriors series of fighting action video games. She's a popular character despite her debut and only appearance in Samurai Warriors 2, and Samurai Warriors 2 Empires, (without counting Warriors Orochi). In the game, she has a rivalry with Shimazu Yoshihiro, the daimyo of Satsuma.Ginchiyo also appears in Koei's Kessen III as a hidden character.
