Information about Taboo (rapper)

Jaime Luis Gómez, born July 14 1975, Boyle Heights, Los Angeles, California[1], better known as Taboo Nawasha, is an American musical performer who achieved fame as a member of the Black Eyed Peas.

Gómez is of Mexican and Shoshone descent, and was raised in Rosemead, California. As a child he aspired to be a philanthropist, and did not turn to music until his late teens. He joined the Black Eyed Peas in 1995 - band mates apl.de.ap and will.i.am were originally in a group called Atban Klann, but changed the name after changing record labels. In 2003 Stacy Ferguson joined and completed the band's current lineup. Taboo is known for his Kung-Fu inspired dance moves (being a practicioner of Jeet Kune Do) and eclectic style of dress.

Beyond the Black Eyed Peas

Taboo has a 14 year-old son, Joshua Parish Gomez. He is said to be engaged to a Filipina, Jamie Dizon.

Taboo has recently announced plans to launch a non-profit arts school for children living in his hometown of Rosemead, California.

Taboo's first acting role was in the film Dirty[2] with Wyclef Jean, playing the part of Ramírez.

Taboo made a remix to the song "La Paga" by Juanes.

Currently, Taboo is in the process of creating a solo album titled Taboo. He has collaborated with Ryan Key of Yellowcard on the song "Gotta Get It Now". He also collaborated with reggaeton rapper David Rolas for the song "Morena".

He will be in another movie called "Cosmic Radio" which also stars Michael Madsen, although no date has been confirmed for the release of the film.

As of 15 May 2007, Taboo has said that some of the collaborators might be Frankie J, E-40, Pitbull, and Kumbia Kings. He has also said his solo album will be out next fall.
