Speak is the debut album by Lindsay Lohan, released in the United States by Casablanca Records on December 7 2004 (see 2004 in music). Although this was Lohan's first album, she had previously recorded tracks for the Freaky Friday soundtrack and the Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen soundtrack. The album debuted at number four on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart with sales of 261,762 copies. It later achieved Platinum status. It sold over 1.5 million copies worldwide.

Speak featured the singles "Rumors" and "Over", which both received substantial radio airplay but failed on the U.S. charts. Third single "First", also released as a single from the soundtrack to the film (in which Lohan starred) was also unsuccessful, but it became a moderate hit in parts of Europe and Latin America. "Rumors" was certified gold by the RIAA due to strong digital downloads, and its video reached number one on MTV's Total Request Live several times, staying on the countdown for forty-five days. It was also nominated for an MTV Video Music Award for Best Pop Video. The video for "Over" remained on the countdown for fifty days, after which it was retired. The video for "First", which featured the car Herbie, was less popular, only remaining on the countdown for a couple of weeks and peaking at number four. The videos for all three singles from the album were directed by Jake Nava.
