Information about Richard X

Richard Philips is a record producer, best known by his stage name Richard X. In an early issue of the now defunct Popworld magazine, Phillips told of how he had simply sealed a postcard with a kiss which was misinterpreted as the letter X; from then on he has used the alias Richard X.

History

Richard X started out as a pioneer of the bootleg craze, releasing limited edition singles under the artist name of Girls On Top between 2001 and 2002. He signed to Virgin Records as a result of the interest in the early Girls On Top singles and released his debut album Richard X Presents His X-Factor Vol. 1 in 2003. He has now become a successful record producer, producing hit singles for artists including Sugababes, Kelis, Liberty X and Rachel Stevens and remixing for artists including New Order, Pet Shop Boys, Gwen Stefani, and Depeche Mode.
