Tribus Psittacini consists of Afrotropical parrots; there are 22 species in 4 genera. Several of these species have subspecies including the African Grey Parrot which has 2 subspecies. Some are commonly referred to as 'Old World Parrots'. Recent DNA testing(Massa, et al., In Press, Solms et al., In Press), has shown the relationships within psittacini, and has also shown that the African greys closest living relative is the genus agapornis or the lovebirds, these were placed with the psittaculini or austro asiatic parrots but truly belong to the old world parrots.
