Paper Mate, is a trademark of Sanford L.P., a Newell Rubbermaid company. Sanford L.P. is a company that makes stationery and office products. Sanford's other brands include CardScan, Dymo, Expo, Foohy (formerly Colorific), Liquid Paper, Mimio, Parker, Pelouze, Prismacolor, Rolodex, Rotring, Sensa, Sharpie, Sharpie Accent, Uni-ball, and Waterman. They are best known for their Sharpie markers and their "PhD multi pen/pencil/stylus", which is endorsed by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) for the reduced writing fatigue produced by its grip to the hand.[1]

Paper Mate's pencils do not contain rainforest wood. A majority, if not all, of their pencils are made in the USA. The most popular lead pencil is the Clearpoint.

Retired and Vintage Pens

The 98 Pen was so named as it retailed at 98 cents in the stores. The ballpoint pen was supplied with a standard refill, but this could be replaced with a jumbo refill. (The jumbo refill is still sold today).
