The National Democrats Party (NDP) is a small right-wing political party in New Zealand, formed in 1999 by Anton Foljambe, formerly of the New Zealand National Front, but met with limited success. When Kyle Chapman resigned as leader of the NF in 2006, Foljambe saw this as an opportunity to re-launch the NDP to try and attract more moderate members unhappy with the hardline direction it was taking under its new leadership.
The party describes itself as "New Zealand's only conservative political party". It is generally regarded as crypto-fascist, but not racist. Foljambe has run as an election candidate two or three times, with poor results. Chapman is now Deputy Chairman of the NDP, and is currently (2007) running for Mayor of Christchurch.
The party's policies include strident anti-communism and anti-feminism, the restoration of capital punishment and corporal punishment, and strong national defence. It advocates a "corporatist" constitution, and has a conspiratorial view of world events.
