Information about Major Organ And The Adding Machine

Major Organ and the Adding Machine is thought to be the side project of Neutral Milk Hotel's Jeff Mangum and Julian Koster.[1] After submitting a track to a Kindercore Records Christmas compilation in 1997, they recorded a self-titled album and released it on Orange Twin Records in 2001.

The liner notes of their album leave it a mystery as to who officially is featured. It is generally believed that Mangum and Koster are the main musicians in the group (which bears a strong affinity to Koster's project, The Music Tapes), but it is believed that a variety of Elephant Six musicians also contributed, including members of The Olivia Tremor Control, Elf Power, and Of Montreal.

Andrew Rieger of Elf Power in an interview with the Elephant 6 fan site, Optical Atlas http://opticalatlas.com/rieger.html, disclosed that there is a Major Organ film in the works. The release date is unknown, but Rieger did say "soon". A trailer for the movie was shown at the 40 Watt Club on May 5, 2007 and August 11, 2007.

Discography

The band also submitted a version of "What a Wonderful World" to the Kindercore Records compilation album Christmas in Stereo, released in 1997
