Libra is an astrological sign, which is associated with the constellation Libra, in the Southern Hemisphere near Scorpius and Virgo. Under the tropical zodiac, Libra is occupied by the Sun from September 23 to October 23, and under the sidereal zodiac, it ends on November 15. Libra, (The Scales of Balance), is the only symbol of the zodiac that is inanimate (it is not represented by an animal or person). The sign opposite of Libra is Aries.

The corresponding month in the Babylonian calendar is Tišritum, dedicated to Shamash (the Sun).

Mythology

In mythology Libra is often associated with the Greek Goddess of Justice, Themis,[1] the Greek mythological figure of Atalanta (meaning balanced), and Astraea (daughter of Themis), who ascended to heaven and became the constellation of Virgo, and carried the scales of justice, the nearby constellation of Libra.

Libra is also associated with the Greco-Roman goddess Aphrodite/Venus and sometimes also the goddesses Eris/Discordia, along with Hermione/Concordia, Hera/Juno, Ishtar, Freyja and Frigg, and the god Xolotl.

In astrology Libra is ruled by the planet Venus. The Indian equivalent of Libra is Tula, the Chinese equivalent is the Dog.

Many modern astrologers regard it as the most desirable of zodiacal types because it represents the zenith of the year, the high point of the seasons

Relations with other element signs

Air signs are seen as complementary to fire signs because they provide the ideas that allow the fire signs to carry out their action. However, it is often thought that fire signs are too flagrant and impatient for the air signs to tolerate permanently. Air signs are supposed to more or less understand earth signs because they share a basically rational nature. However, whilst air signs are supposed to admire earth signs' will to achieve, they supposedly find them too timid, pessimistic, undemonstrative, and cautious, and the earth signs, though attracted by the air signs' unique thoughts, find them overwhelmingly unrealistic and flippant. Water signs are believed to be much too passionate and emotionally deep for air signs' flighty, flirtatious nature; indeed, astrology believes air signs hate water signs as too subjective, secretive, and illogical. For their part water signs supposedly deride air signs as emotionally shallow, excessively concerned with worldly pleasure, and uncaring towards others. Though, sometimes an air sign can balance out the traits of a water sign (thus creating a great friendship). Air signs will find themselves most compatible with fire signs, who share the similar traits of being positive, extroverted, outgoing, and fun-loving. Fire signs may not be as objective as air signs, as air signs may not be as passionate as fire signs, but they can generally adapt to each other's ways, and find they have a lot of different traits to offer in fulfilling one another.

Sun Aspects

An aspect is simply the relationship between two planets along the 360 degree circle of the horoscope. Because the ruling planet is within the rising sign, in this case Libra, we may determine the compatibility Libra share with other zodiac signs, simply by measuring the difference between the two rising signs.

The Conjunction A Sign which varies less then 10 degrees apart from Libra, for example, another Libra, or a Virgo/ Scorpio if the two individuals have both been born on the same zodiac cusp. These two will have a strong and powerful effect upon one another, which may be very beneficial, however be weary of allowing the focus to become too intense.

The Trine A Sign which varies between 112 degrees and 129 degrees apart from Libra, for example, Gemini and Aquarius. These signs all fall under the same air element. This creates a favorable and most harmonious union, bringing advantage and ease. Just do not allow your relationship to grow weak and lazy.

‘‘‘The Opposition''' A Sign which varies between 172 degrees and 189 degrees apart from Libra, for example, The Aries. This is unharmonious. Opposition brings strain, discordance, or separation. However opposition is seen as a challenge to grow and achieve.

The Sextile A Sign which varies between 52 degrees and 69 degrees apart from Libra, for example, Sagittarius and Leo. These two are quite harmonious and favorable, bringing opportunity though not without a little hard work between the two to match one's fault with the other's strength.

The Square A Sign which varies between 82 degrees and 99 degrees apart from Aries, for example, Cancer and Capricorn. This relationship will be both challenging and stressful, caused by obstacles the square places in order to teach important lessons. By overcoming difficulties strength in character and motivation to succeed may be established.

Any signs not mentioned in this section are not considered practical unions due to conflicting nature and tendencies between the two competing signs. However if more information is needed, These Aspects may be translated into comparing the planets in your horoscope with another persons planets. By comparing the Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, and Jupiter of your two horoscopes, a more detailed account of the relationship may be established. Scorpio is the best to be friends with. She/he will bring good luck and charm. Scorpio will make you laugh and help you when you are down, for you might grow to be most disliked. Scorpio will always be by your side. Scorpio will help you get is good shape and help exercise.

Body and health

Physically, individuals born under the sign of Libra supposedly tend to have a graceful figure; charming appearance; a roundish head; small and refined features; a high forehead; and a 'trademark' dimple. And also thought to be above average height.

In medical astrology and terms of anatomy, Libra is popularly said to rule the excretory functions via the kidneys, skin, lumbar region, buttocks, adrenals and vasomotor system, and lumbar vertebrae.[2]

Exaltation

Libra rather a Sign of fecundity, it being the house of Venus, and Saturn his exaltation. (able to bare children)
