Leah Helena Adara Patterson-Baker (née Poulos) is a fictional character in the Australian soap opera Home and Away. The character, portrayed by Greek actress Ada Nicodemou, first appeared in 2000, making her one of the show's longest-running characters.

Character

Leah came from a traditional Greek Orthodox background and had her husband chosen for her. Her father, Theo, had prepared a wedding for his daughter, but at the last minute, she was unable to go through with the reception and ran away. Local Summer Bay resident Vinnie Patterson was on hand to give Leah a lift.

Leah is very confident but very emotional. While she would defend the things she believes in to the death and has a habit of talking uncontrollably, she is seen by many as a friendly shoulder to lean on.

In 2001 Leah Married Vinnie, who was later sent to jail for a crime that his father committed. While in jail, Vinnie was killed in a fire at the prison, we later found out that he had been put in the Witness Protection Later that year Leah and Vinnie had a son, Phillip.

Leah has worked for years at Summer Bay's Beachside Diner. In 2005 Leah married Dan (Tim Campbell), despite Dan's ex-wife, Amanda having come to Summer Bay in order to sabotage their wedding. She is passionate about her friends and family. She has consistently remained close to Sally Fletcher (Kate Ritchie) since her arrival in Summer Bay. This is despite a blip in 2004 where Leah briefly fell for Flynn Saunders, Sally's husband. Sally and Leah's friendship survived; Leah acted as surrogate mother for Sally and Flynn's daughter, Pippa.

She lives with her son Phillip. Leah has had past issues with Peter; before Dan's arrival in 2004, Leah and Peter had been on the verge of becoming a couple. However whilst being held hostage with several other Summer Bay residents by Sarah Lewis, Peter was knocked into a coma. By the time he woke up, Leah and Dan had grown close. Peter and Leah's attraction to each other didn't completely die down however. At the beginning of 2006, Leah and Dan's marriage had crumbled due to Dan's gambling addiction. Peter provided Leah a shoulder to cry on, and the two shared a kiss. However things did not go Peter's favour as Leah was still trying to decide if she loved Dan still or not. After a few months, Leah and Dan were soon reunited.

She went to Cyprus to help Alex out of a problem with the cops. They both returned back to Summer Bay. She believed that he had changed but then when Phillip went missing the drugs were found. It turneed out that Alex had smuggled the drugs in Leahs bag. She decided that she didn't want anything to do with him.
