Information about Irwin Kostal

Irwin Kostal (October 1, 1911November 23, 1994) was an Academy Award winning musical arranger of films.

Filmography

In 1982, Kostal was the conductor of the digital re-recording of the music to Walt Disney's 1940 animated feature Fantasia. Although he used Leopold Stokowski's original arrangements, many purists were upset about the change, and the studio re-instated the original Stokowski recordings in 1990.

In 1983 he wrote the musical score and theme song to the Oscar-nominated featurette Mickey's Christmas Carol.

He was made a posthumous Disney Legend in 2004.
