His movies include the Beatles film Backbeat (1994), Hackers (1995), The Wings of the Dove (1997), K-PAX (2001), and The Skeleton Key (2005). Softley will next direct Inkheart (2007), which is based on the book of the same name. He also directed Toni Braxton's music video "How Could an Angel Break My Heart".
