Geography
Hollywood is located at (26.021467, -80.174910).GR1According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 30.8 square miles (80 km). 27.34 square miles (71 km) of it is land and 3.46 square miles (9 km) of it is water (11.23%).[1]
Hollywood is located in southeastern Broward County, and includes about 5-6 miles of Atlantic Ocean beach, interrupted briefly by a portion deeded to Dania Beach. Hollywood is bounded by the following municipalities:

Demographics
As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there were 139,357 people, 59,673 households, and 34,490 families residing in the city. The population density was 5,097.2/mi² (1,968.0/km²). There were 68,426 housing units at an average density of 2,502.8/mi² (966.3/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 78.35% White, 12.09% African American or Black, 0.27% Native American, 1.98% Asian, 0.08% Pacific Islander, 3.95% from other races, and 3.27% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 22.53% of the population.There were 59,673 households out of which 24.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 41.5% were married couples living together, 11.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 42.2% were non-families. 34.4% of all households were made up of individuals and 13.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.31 and the average family size was 3.00.

The median income for a household in the city was $36,714, and the median income for a family was $44,849. Males had a median income of $33,102 versus $27,237 for females. The per capita income for the city was $22,097. About 9.9% of families and 13.2% of the population were below the poverty line, including 18.1% of those under age 18 and 11.8% of those age 65 or over.
As of 2000, speakers of English as a first language accounted for 66.94% of residents, Spanish accounted for 21.62%, French 2.06%, French Creole 1.32%, Italian 1.12%, Romanian 0.91%, Hebrew 0.88%, Portuguese 0.84%, and German 0.72%.[6]

Law Enforcement Controversy
Recently several Hollywood Police Department officers have been implicated in a wide-reaching corruption investigation by the FBI, and a few officers turned state's evidence in order to reduce their potential sentences.[7] Several officers faced trial and one was convicted in August 2007.[8]Neighborhoods
