Main article: Toucan Sam
The cereal's mascot is Toucan Sam, a blue cartoon toucan with a striped beak. The character was originally voiced by Mel Blanc, although the longest-running voicing of the character was performed by Paul Frees as an imitation of Ronald Colman. In the most recent ads, Toucan Sam's voice has been performed by Canadian voice actor Maurice LaMarche.

A variation of the Froot Loops cereal was manufactured starting in 1998 called Marshmallow-Blasted Froot Loops. This cereal was Froot Loops with marshmallows added. New marshmallows were introduced usually every year. It started out with Toucan Sam marshmallows, followed by frogs, then number 2's, then mummies, and finally sharks and piranhas. The commercials followed a story of Toucan Sam traveling through a marshmallow temple. The cereal was discontinued in 2005. Marshmallow-Blasted Froot Loops were not marketed in Australia to comply with local dietary requirements for products marketed to children. The most recent variation of Froot Loops is called Froot Loops Smoothie, which has white Froot Loops with a creamy taste, just like a smoothie.

Besides the breakfast cereal, there are other products currently available in the North American retail market:
  • Froot Loops fruit snacks come in a variety of fruit flavors: green apple, watermelon, blue raspberry, orange, cherry, and grape.
  • Eggo Froot Loops is a spin-off product to both Eggo and Froot Loops. They are waffles with multiple flavors of fruity filling inside.
  • Cereal Milk Bars - milk cream are at the bottom of cereal pieces attached together.
  • Cereal Straws- cereal smashed together made to look like straws.
