Information about European Quality Improvement System

The European Quality Improvement System (or EQUIS) is a school accreditation system without recognition from the US Department of Education or any foreign government oversight. It specializes in higher education institutions of management and business administration, run by the European Foundation for Management Development. As of February 2007, EQUIS has accredited 105 business schools in 31 countries around the world[1].

History

It was created in 1998 under Gordon Shenton and the current director is Julio Urgel. In the past seven years of existence the organization has accredited 105 institutions in 31 countries.

Object of the accreditation

The accreditation is given regarding mainly the general quality of their activities and also the degree of internationalisation.
