Information about Council Of Fashion Designers Of America

The Council of Fashion Designers of America is a non-profit trade group for American fashion designers founded in 1962.[1]

The organization sponsors the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund, scholarships, and professional development programs, as well as awards for fashion design.[1]

Awards

The CFDA's annual awards ceremony, which honors excellence in fashion design, is often called "the Oscars of fashion."[2] Nominations are submitted by CFDA members and by select fashion publications, retailers, and stylists.[1] Award winners are voted on and announced at the annual CFDA Fashion Awards gala event.[1]Diane von Furstenberg is the current president of CFDA as of 2006.
