Clash of context is a technique used in humor to create an absurd situation. It involves the interaction of characters, locations, and situations that seem inappropriate. An example would be the Saturday Night Live skit about Superman's funeral. In the skit we see well-known superheroes acting as normal people would at a funeral, clashing with their normally larger-than-life personas. A similar clash of context is the entire premise behind The Venture Bros., a show spoofing Jonny Quest that features the mundane details and vulnerabilities present in everyone's life but traditionally left out of the action genre.
