Beerenberg is the world's northernmost active volcano located at the island Jan Mayen.

The volcano forms the north-eastern end of Jan Mayen, which is ringed by high cliffs. Beerenberg is a large, 2,277 m high stratovolcano covered with a glacier. Its summit crater is one kilometre wide. Numerous cinder cones were erupted along flank fissures.

It is composed primarily of basaltic lava flows with minor amounts of tephra.

Its most recent eruption took place in 1985. It is believed to have erupted in 1732 and 1818.
