Balaena
Eubalaena
Balaenidae is a family of cetaceans that contains two genera. Commonly called the right whales as it contains mainly right whale species. This name can be confusing, however, since one of the species is the Bowhead Whale, which is different to the Right whale.

Taxonomy

  • Family Balaenidae
Scientific classification or biological classification is a method by which biologists group and categorize species of organisms. Scientific classification also can be called scientific taxonomy, but should be distinguished from folk taxonomy, which lacks scientific basis.
