Athelm, or Æthelhelm was an English churchman, who was the first Bishop of Wells, and later Archbishop of Canterbury.

Biography

Early life

He was related to Dunstan.[1]

Bishop of Wells

He is said to have been a monk of Glastonbury before his elevation in 909 to the see of Wells, of which he was the first occupant.[2]

Archbishop of Canterbury

In 914 he became Archbishop of Canterbury.[2]

Death and afterward

He died on January 8, 923[3] or on January 8 926. He was later canonized, with a feast day of January 8.[4]
