Information about American Sociological Association
The American Sociological Association (ASA), founded in 1905 as the the American Sociological Society (ASS), is a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing the discipline and profession of sociology by serving sociologists in their work and promoting their contributions to serve society.
The ASA holds annual meetings and publishes several academic journals, the newest one being Contexts, a new magazine designed to share sociology with other fields and the public. With a membership of more than 14,000 professors, students, researchers and practitioners, the ASA is the largest professional association of sociologists in the world.
