Alliance Air (Hindi: अलायंस एयर) is a low-cost airline based in New Delhi, India. It operates 357 weekly flights to 44 domestic destinations and is a subsidiary of Indian Airlines. Its main base is Indira Gandhi International Airport, Delhi.[1]

History

The airline was established on 1 April 1996 and started operations on 21 June 1996. It is wholly owned by Indian Airlines.[1] The future of this airline remains undecided, because Indian the parent company, is considering converting five Boeing 737-200 aircraft of Alliance Air into freighters. With the merger of Air India and Indian Airlines now complete [2], Air India Express and Alliance Air, are due to integrate their operations next month, with this the Alliance name is expected to be eliminated [3].

Alliance Air operates services to the following scheduled domestic destinations : Agartala, Agra, Ahmedabad, Aizawl, Bagdogra, Bangalore, Bhavnagar, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Dimapur, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Imphal, Indore, Jaipur, Jammu, Jamnagar, Jodhpur, Jorhat, Khajuraho, Kolkata, Leh, Lilabari, Nagpur, New Delhi, Port Blair, Raipur, Rajkot, Shillong, Silchar, Tezpur, Udaipur, Vadodara, Varanasi and Visakhapatnam.

Incidents

60 people were killed when Alliance Air Flight 7412 crashed near the Lok Nayak Jayaprakash Airport in Bihar, India.
