But obviously there is an important question you'll need to ask yourself BEFORE you write a single word. That question is "What's it all about?" That is, what is your ezine all about?
The most likely subject to choose is one which you are knowledgeable. What is your expertise? Dog training? Making jewelry? Writing? Investing? Choosing a subject of which you have knowledge has already provided you with enough material to write several articles for your ezine. However, your subject should also be one you are passionate about. You may have 30 years experience working in the investment industry but if you are burned out you probably won't be motivated to publish a newsletter regularly on this subject.
Your subject should also be one that is in demand. This is especially true if you are using an ezine to market a product or service. A software tool such as Word Tracker or Ad Analyzer will help you discover popular search terms. When you type in your keyword (the topic of your expertise) you'll be given a report of how many people have searched the web using the same keyword or similar keyword.
You will also want to research the topic of niche businesses. A niche is a specific area such as writing. But a niche can be broken down even further such as writing for children, writing fiction, writing non-fiction, writing for adults, etc.
Once you decide on the theme for your ezine you can now christen it with a name! My ezine targets people who are interested in increasing sales with their own ezine. I want them to know how simple it is to do so. Thus the name EZ Publishing (EZ sounds a bit catchier than simply "Easy"). Here are some other examples:
The Czar Report - offers leadership advice
The H.E.R.O. Solution - insider secrets of the wealthy
Internet Rich Girl - marketing strategies for women
Once your ezine has a name, you can begin writing articles and gathering content for your publication -- all centered on your theme.
So, what will you name YOUR ezine?
